In Malaysia, IDP has partnered with UNICEF Malaysia and the Sarawak Ministry of Women, Early Childhood, and Community Wellbeing Development (KPWK) to strengthen early intervention services for children with developmental delays. Our Year One work established a baseline through a longitudinal study of early intervention centres (EICs) across Sarawak, generating evidence on how these centres support children’s learning, self-care, and readiness for mainstream schooling.

Building on that foundation, IDP is now leading the Year Two midline evaluation, assessing short-term progress since the baseline and examining the EIC model’s effectiveness, efficiency, and sustainability in alignment with Sarawak’s Post-COVID Development Strategy 2030. This phase will generate evidence to guide the state’s ongoing expansion of EIC services.

Together, these phases reflect IDP’s deepening work in Malaysia, from establishing baseline evidence to informing the state’s long-term investment in inclusive early childhood development.
