Gender Equity and Social Inclusion

Through technical support, research, monitoring, and evaluation, IDP works to ensure that all marginalized social groups have equitable access to international development and government services. In particular, IDP underscores that stigma and discrimination are often compounded by intersecting identities; for instance, women with disabilities may experience exclusion rooted in both gender and disability status.
IDP is a known expert in developing Gender Equity and Social Inclusion (GESI) analyses and associated inclusion action plans. The reports examine barriers to human rights on issues related to gender equity, while exploring the rights of persons with disabilities, LGBTQIA+ individuals, indigenous, afro-descendants, and other ethnic minorities and returned migrants. IDP has also conducted research and reported on children and youth impacted by violence, minority language learners, early pregnancies and forced marriages, children and youth in rural areas, and those from lower socio-economic statuses.
We believe that teaching inclusively benefits ALL learners, irrespective of whether they have a known disability. Our team also has extensive experience supporting inclusive education from early childhood education through primary, secondary, and post-secondary education.
