El Salvador:
Educational Innovation Project

Donor: USAID • Partner: FHI 360 •
Timeframe: September 2022 – February 2025
The USAID El Salvador Educational Innovation Project (EIP) worked to stem the tide of irregular migration by improving foundational skills and psychosocial well-being among basic education (BE) learners, including the most marginalized, while concurrently strengthening the capacity of higher education institutions (HEIs) to better support the BE sector. The project supported educators in target schools to improve students’ foundational skills and psychosocial well-being and develop the capacity of HEIs to conduct research and advocate for reforms in the BE sector. IDP supported an embedded focus on Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and inclusive education strategies throughout project activities.
Project Highlights:
- Developed a Gender Equity and Social Inclusion (GESI) and Gender Action Plan to ensure that marginalized groups were part of all aspects of the project.
- Trained teachers and regional coordinators on how to apply UDL in the classroom setting.
- Integrated issues related to students with disabilities and UDL into trainings for Teaching at The Right Level (TALR).
